Northern Ireland’s leading vehicle conversion company, TBC Conversions, have been named as the corporate sponsor of the 2019 UK Boccia Championships which are being hosted in Northern Ireland for the very first time. This year’s championship will take place from the 14^th – 16^th June in the Antrim Forum.

Boccia is a Paralympic sport designed for athletes with impairments affecting all four limbs, similar to bowls it is a target ball sport that tests both muscle control and accuracy. Currently, the fastest-growing disability sport in the world, propelling balls to land as close as possible to a marker ball is the aim of the game and having originated in ancient Greece and Egypt, the sport is now played in over 50 countries worldwide.

The UK Championships, hosted by Disability Sport NI, will see elite players from across the UK coming together to compete. These players will include David Smith MBE, the joint-most successful British Boccia player in history and Northern Ireland’s own UK Champion Claire Taggart from Larne (pictured) who became the first athlete from Northern Ireland to compete in the sport of Boccia at Paralympic level.
