As the team at TBC Conversions expands further, we look forward to introducing our team members to our customers, colleagues, and peers. This week it’s the turn of Gary Wood, who has joined the Motability Aftercare Team at TBC Conversions in Bromborough, to help our customers and Motability leaseholders maintain their vehicles.

Let’s see what Gary had to say when we asked him a few questions.

Looking for a job that makes a difference? Want to build a rewarding career? If so then your search is over as TBC Mobility Conversions are looking for a sales executive to join our team and sell our wonderful wheelchair accessible vehicles.

The Job

You’ll be joining a team of two experienced sales executives who know the business inside out and are ready and waiting to pass their extensive knowledge of wheelchair vehicle conversions on. Working in close partnership with the Motability Scheme your role will involve demonstrating and selling our vehicle conversions to customers up and down the UK.

You will be responsible for developing sales and securing ongoing business through long term relationship building, something upon which TBC Conversions have built their business. You’ll be based in the Bromborough offices near Liverpool but will travel across the UK with some overnight stays required to meet your potential clients.

For many, the Motability Scheme is a valuable life-changing service and at TBC Conversions we are glad to work closely with the scheme, helping make a difference in peoples lives. Our wheelchair accessible vehicle conversions are purpose-built to help keep people mobile and, on the road, and it is working in tandem with the Motability Scheme that allows us to do this efficiently.

Over the past year, there were some changes made to the way Motability and TBC Conversions work together to ensure our clients get the best from us and here we are going to detail exactly what those changes mean to you.

Well, it was an exciting moment for all of us when TBC Conversions, in partnership with South West College, were announced winners of the SME Employer Award 2021.

As the team sat watching this year’s virtual awards ceremony live, we were proud to see MD David Donnell and Alastair Boothe talk so passionately about what our apprenticeship programme means to them and the people who enrol.

When it comes to WAVs, there’s one man our customers have come to count on time and time again. To many in the industry he’s known as Tom McKeown, TBC Sales Manager, but to his customers, he’s known as Tom McKeown, superhero and Mobility expert.

Let’s find out what makes our very own WAV warrior tick and where his superpowers really come from.

One of the people our customers will speak to time and time again, Elaine has become part of the furniture during her time with TBC Mobility Conversions. Her day to day involves maintaining the high standards of Motability aftercare our customers and clients required. This can be anything from being a liaison between Motability and our customers to arranging the necessary checks and tests we regularly carry out on our WAV’s.

Like so many of us at TBC Mobility Conversions, it’s fulfilling the care and duty to our customers that Elaine says makes her job so satisfactory.

At TBC Conversions we’re well known for our face-to-face approach to customer care. From the initial consultation to the handover of the finished vehicle conversion, we take care to adapt our procedures to suit each client’s needs as an individual.

Throughout this entire process, there are a few unsung heroes working in the background, carrying out the specialist engineering that makes our vehicles what they are. These are people like Les Henderson who we’ll be learning a little more about today.

Learn how TBC Salesperson, Gerry Galvin, and Sandvik Engineering technician, Philip Oliver, worked together to transform van into office. A journey that ended with us developing one of our most cleverly conceived specialist vehicle conversions yet.

In the summer of 2018, an existing client of the Donnelly Group, Sandvik Engineering, was recommended to Gerry at TBC Specialist Conversions in relation to a unique specialist conversion they had in mind.

The task at hand; to enable mobile diagnostics and servicing of Sandvik’s cutting edge industrial equipment.

2017-vw-expo-event.png

TBC Conversions were pleased to be invited to exhibit our Volkswagen wheelchair accessible minibus at the Volkswagen Commercial vehicles EXPO event. This small but educational event was held in the National Learning Centre in Milton Keynes and included a selection of third-party converters who came to showcase the wide range of conversion possibilities Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles provide.

What can a Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle become?

At the event, we were lucky enough to be able to view other impressive vehicle conversions undertaken, from ambulances and recovery vehicles alongside our own minibus and wheelchair accessible vehicles. Thanks to Volkswagens expert engineering the VW Crafters, Transporters and Caddy’s make excellent base models for the type of vehicle conversions we supply atTBC.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles EXPO Event

As part of the Volkswagen Recognised Converter network, we are able to confidently provide businesses, organisations and private owners a wide variety of vehicle conversions. Currently, we specialise in standard and accessible minibuses, ranging from 16 to 17 seaters, with front or side entry options and a huge choice of seating configurations.

TBC Conversions have also been working closely with the Motability Scheme to provide passenger transport and drive from wheelchair accessible vehicles such as the Volkswagen Caddy and Volkswagen T6 Range Shuttle and Caravelle.

What we took to the show

Making sure we gave those in attendance a good idea of what can be achieved when converting Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, we took both a WAV and a minibus along for the ride.

The chosen WAV was our VW Caddy Life converted to carry wheelchair passengers with a low angle ramp in the rear. Our ramp is situated at such an angle as to provide wheelchair users with a seated position in keeping with the other passengers in the vehicle. The exhibition team took this opportunity to highlight the lengths TBC Conversions go to improve the passenger travel experience, with the use of our continuous rear door seal, preventing road noise and weather elements affecting the passengers.

We also had in tow the Volkswagen Crafter accessible minibus complete with rear access inboard lift, front entry and fully adjustable seating.

The event was a huge success and fully highlighted the brilliant work various vehicle conversion companies are doing in terms of making travel accessible, but also making the most out of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle base models to provide businesses and organisations, safe and reliable transportation.
